Autonomous Edge

Imagine an island community losing connectivity to the mainland in a storm.. This network architecture implements a failover mechanism for remote sites, to be able to minimize downtime for local services in case of network outage due to disasters or failures, among others.

What is Autonomous Edge

An Autonomous Edge is an advanced 5G Standalone (SA) core setup with two cores: the main core in the Central site and an on-premises failover core. The main core is used in normal operating conditions, but when connectivity to the Central site is lost, the failover core enables an autonomous network in the remote site to keep local services running.

The Role of Autonomous Edge in 5G

Network Failover

An Autonomous Edge leverages on a full on-premises 5G SA core as a failover mechanism, with subscriber information kept in sync with the Central site’s main core.
